Week 10 – August Rainbows

August Rainbows

I should remember,

Life is only a summer storm.

The heat and the fire and the wind come quickly,

And if one can stand the rain –

It is cool and quiet and peace,

On the other side.

Week 15 – Heat Lightning

Heat Lightning

There is something about the rain.

My hair sticks to my face and I run,
But really I want to throw back my head,
And dance with you in circles.
Let the water run down my face and kiss my skin, help me to start over.

I run and my shoes soak, my clothes drag down and the water runs in rivers,
Down my hair and my skin and the pavement, cleaning it all,
Smelling fresh and sweet and full of good things.

The world is clean again,
In heat lighting and sudden showering storms,
New again,
From the inside out.
