Week 16 – Of All The Gin Joints

Of All TheĀ Gin Joints

Of all the gin joints,
You walked into mine.

Summer comes and goes,
And the complications of saying goodbye,
Arrive hard and fast at my doorstep.

I’ve learned to hope from you.

Of all the gin joints,
I hope you’ll walk again into mine.

Week 15 – Heat Lightning

Heat Lightning

There is something about the rain.

My hair sticks to my face and I run,
But really I want to throw back my head,
And dance with you in circles.
Let the water run down my face and kiss my skin, help me to start over.

I run and my shoes soak, my clothes drag down and the water runs in rivers,
Down my hair and my skin and the pavement, cleaning it all,
Smelling fresh and sweet and full of good things.

The world is clean again,
In heat lighting and sudden showering storms,
New again,
From the inside out.
